PERMANENT EXHIBITS

The Medgar Wiley Evers Exhibit chronicles the early life of Medgar Evers from his childhood, to his years as a World War II veteran who had served in the United States Army. The exhibit uses information from his family and his wife Myrlie to highlight his years as a college student and becoming the first field secretary of the NAACP. It culminates with the retelling of his death in 1963 and the fight to bring his accuser to justice by his wife Myrlie in 1994. “Field to Factory: The Afro-American Migration, 1915-1940.” This exhibition interprets African-Americans’ Great Migration from the rural South to the urban North.
